How We Are Vexed!

"I will prepare a lamp for my Anointed. HIS ENEMIES I WILL CLOTHE WITH SHAME, but upon himself his crown shall flourish." Psalm 132:17-18 I don't think we've ever seen anything like the level of immorality that we're seeing today. The enemies of God are clothed with shame. Pictures stuck in our minds, men and women reveling in their filth, parading in abject defiance, slapping the most High God in the face, using his covenant sign as their awful motto in defiance of him. My mind had never before grasped what Sodom must have felt like to Lot as he had to live in the midst of what we are seeing on our tv screens and in our news today. It feels just like we're there in Sodom living among those enemies of God who are clothed with shame. And we mourn as we are vexed daily with it. "...and delivered righteous Lot, who was vexed by the filthy conduct of the wicked, for that righteous man, dwelling among them, vexed his righteous soul from day to with their lawless deeds..." 2 Peter 2:7-8 Yes, HOW we are vexed by this filth, HOW it torments! Does it not send daggers into our hearts to witness the total depravity of these awful people reveling in their defiance? Doesn't evil always revel? I'm thinking also of Muslims who shout and revel and throw candy to children when they have killed some Jews. Evil shouts for joy. Evil revels - because ...for now, Satan is the god of this world (2nd Corinthians 4:4). When I consider what is coming, I tremble. They have no clue. They think their jubilation is going to go on forever. They have no idea what is coming. vs 4-6: But if God ..."did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, A PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, MAKING THEM AN EXAMPLE to those who afterward would live ungodly..." The Word of God addresses the fact that they do these things brazenly, with no shame: "'Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; NOR DID THEY KNOW HOW TO BLUSH. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time I punish them, they shall be cast down,' says the Lord." Jeremiah 6:15 Jesus Christ told the believers that it would be exactly like this in the days just before his return: "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot, they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. EVEN SO WILL IT BE in the day when the Son of Man is revealed." Luke 17:28-29 They will be destroyed who laughed at the example of Sodom and Gomorrah. How we mourn for these blind and lost human beings parading as brute beasts before us, having no shame. "But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, AND WILL UTTERLY PERISH IN THEIR OWN CORRUPTION, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime." 2 Peter 2:12-13 They will utterly perish in their self-will, and in their corruption. vs 9: "...to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the LUST OF UNCLEANNESS and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed." As though what they do is not bad enough, they spread their perversions with threats to anyone who will not partake of their filth. vs 2: "And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed." The way of truth will be blasphemed... Exactly. It has become a crime to speak the words of God. People lose their livelihoods for refusing to take part in their awful debauchery. Churches close when ministers of the Gospel refuse to bow to their demands. "Their destructive ways." Yes, exactly. They cause lives to be destroyed. Truly the way of truth is blasphemed. They despise God and his Word, and they excoriate those who speak the truth. How long will God allow them to tread upon his Word? How long will God allow this blasphemy to be shoved in his face? Jesus held all this up as a sign of his coming. "As in the days of Lot," so shall his coming be, he said. We're there.
