Is God Trustworthy In The Things You Dread?

"The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord." Proverbs 16:1 Have you ever been in anticipation of an event in which you'll be in an uncomfortable situation, and you've spent all your energies planning what you will say or what you will do if it goes this way or that ...only to find when it happens - that you didn't say what you planned but what you said was totally different? It's human to anticipate and worry and pre-plan, but if you belong to the Lord it will go an entirely different way because if your trust is in him, oftentimes he will take over. "But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak, for it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you." Matthew 10:19-20 Worry and dread are rooted in fear. It can actually be sin because it is the antithesis of trusting in the Lord. It's the suggestion to the mind that he will abandon you when this or that event comes to pass, so you'd better be prepared! But ...do you really think he'll abandon you to manage it on your own? Oh fearful saints, how pathetic is your worry. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 No. Confess the sin of unbelief and turn to the Word of God which promises you that you will NOT be left to your own way, but that just as the Lord is with you in minor things, he will all the more be with you in greater things, especially in the things you dread. If you will put your trust in him and commit to him that thing you dread, then HE will take over and will establish your thoughts un-preplanned. "Commit your works to the Lord, and YOUR THOUGHTS will be established." Proverbs 16:3 I was surprised at reading this passage, I had to read it twice, I had never noticed it before! It says your very THOUGHTS will be established if you commit your endeavors to the Lord. What a promise! Learn absolute trust in the Lord. That's not an easy task because we live in a fallen world and in a fallen human nature prone to fear. But one can make the CHOICE in any situation to resist fear and choose trust. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and HE WILL direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
