"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books." Revelation 20:12 There are two resurrections, the resurrection of the saved and the resurrection of the damned. In the resurrection of the born-again believers there is no judgment because Christ bore for them all the judgment due on their sins. In life, they chose him. Now, they stand in HIS righteousness before the Father, welcomed. "Because the sinless Savior died, my sinful soul is counted free; for God the just is satisfied, to look on him and pardon me." Lyrics from "Before The Throne Of God Above" But those not born-again, those who have either rejected Jesus Christ or ignored him, will be judged according to their sins which are all recorded in a book. Don't be deceived, it won't be an issue of whether their good outweighs their bad, not at all. That belief is heresy and a favorite lie that Satan loves to convince the world of. No, they will be standing in judgment and will be condemned because they did not receive the work Christ did for them on the Cross. Their good works will not count for anything. Think of it like this: if a man is standing before a judge for rape and murder, he cannot sway the judge by telling him how much he gave to charity. His good works have no power whatsoever to save him from the consequences of the crimes he has committed. And so it will be with the condemned -- their good works will have nothing to say because their sin condemns them. vs 14: "Then Death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, AND ANYONE NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE was cast into the lake of fire." The bottom line, therefore, is that men must - in this lifetime - heed the words of the Scriptures and see to their salvation, see that their names are written in the Book of Life. Don't put it off. Putting it off is self-will and mockery of God and often results in the inability to be saved in the end. Many on their deathbed have told a minister that they rejected Christ in their lifetime and now they are unable to repent and turn to him. There are many true accounts depicting this very thing. When the Holy Spirit leaves a man, he becomes unable to repent. Why is it so unwelcome to man -- the gift of eternal life? Is it not unwelcome because of unbelief? Does not Satan whisper to a man, "there really isn't a hell but even if there were, you're a pretty good person so you don't have to worry anyway." That's a lie from the one whom Jesus calls "the father of lies." The whole sin subject began in the garden of Eden when Eve took the fruit forbidden to her. What was Eve's sin? She believed the lie. Satan deceived her and she believed his soft, smooth, encouraging and pleasant words. Satan's method has never changed and it's almost incredible how he puts things to human beings in such a way as to convince them and make them fall for the LIE. Listen, on the other hand, to the words of Jesus: "Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'” John 3:3 vs 16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life..." vs 18: "He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe IS CONDEMNED ALREADY, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God." vs 7: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You MUST be born again.’" Satan convinces a person that to follow Christ is to give up all pleasure and live a life just following rules. No.That's religion, not life in Christ. Religion teaches "goodness" as the way of salvation. Jesus does not tell you to change yourself, he wouldn't tell you that because he knows that a sinner CANNOT change himself. What he tells you is to bow before him and admit that you're a sinner, and ask him to save you. When a person does that, Christ imparts to him his Holy Spirit - and it is only the Spirit of God that can change a person. He only asks you to humble yourself before him and receive him as the Lord of your life. When you do, you will be born again and headed for heaven. Don't put it off. If you continue to reject him, at some point the Spirit of God will stop drawing you and you will be given over to "a reprobate mind" and rendered incapable of repentance. You will no longer feel guilt. Those bound for hell no longer feel guilt. Don't wait. Surrender your life now - to your Creator - who loves you and has a plan for your life. Don't miss it.
