The True Riches

"The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself." Proverbs 11:25 It is said, "you cannot out-give God." Anyone who has been generous will see his own needs met and then some. The principles of the Kingdom of God are the very opposite of the principles of the world. The world may fail you, but God never will. Vs 28: "He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage." Some might say, "Look at so-and-so, he's made himself rich." Yes, but it's fleeting. And it won't satisfy. Such a man constantly wants more and his focus in life is always on how to get more. It robs the soul of peace, he will never be content. In every circumstance in life, he will be thinking of how it will affect his purse. Great is the poverty of the rich man. On the other hand, the person who is generous of heart will never have to worry about his purse. His focus isn't on his purse, his focus is on his Lord. His assets may go up or down, and it just doesn't concern him, because he knows he is SAFE under the sovereignty of his God. He knows God is faithful, and should he go through a period of testing, he passes it well because he is constantly aware that the Word of God says he will be taken care of. With that kind of certainty comes peace. He is free to focus on other things and he does, he is always seeking the will of the Lord for his life, and he thoroughly enjoys all the Lord gives him to do. "He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 There is joy in generosity, the kind of joy that only a son or daughter of God can understand because it is not springing from the fallen human nature, it is a spiritual thing. A powerful spiritual thing. When the Lord directs a believer to satisfy someone's need, there is an indescribable joy that springs up inside. A rich man cannot be "a cheerful giver," because every cent that leaves his hand causes him anxiety. He obsesses about his wealth, he is never at peace. Oh the poverty of the rich man! Learn the ways of God. The ways of God are pleasant and satisfying. To walk in the ways of God is to completely change one's mindset, because each one has grown up in a world whose mindset is actually "foolishness" with God, (1st Corinthians 3:19). One's whole worldview and understanding is changed when he is born again. Change is painful at first, because it necessitates turning from the ways one has grown up with in the world, and stepping out in faith when one discovers the Word of God. But it is one of those secrets that is truly a treasure buried in a field more valuable than anything else in life. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." Matthew 13:44 Begin your walk of faith now and discover the riches found in the Word of God. You'll come to realize that truly, truly, it is a treasure you'd be willing to give anything for, so valuable and so precious is it, it's not like anything the world can give.
