God Will Multiply What Little You Bring To Him

"When the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him and said, 'This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.'” Mark 6:35 Multitudes upon multitudes had followed Jesus and now the day was drawing to a close and of course they were hungry. One point to be made here is that the crowds so desired to hear Jesus's teachings that they stayed before him even to the point of hunger. Do we have that depth of desire to sit before him and hear what he will say to us? Is it so important to us that we would even forego eating just to hear from him? Do we forego ANYTHING to hear from him? vs 37: "But he answered and said to them, 'You give them something to eat.' And they said to him, 'Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?' But he said to them, 'How many loaves do you have? Go and see.' And when they found out they said, 'Five, and two fish.'” The crowd sitting on the hillside numbered in the thousands; can you imagine the bewilderment when Jesus told his disciples to go see how much bread and fish they had? I can see them shaking their heads saying to themselves, "Why go see how much food we have, there are thousands here!?" But they had walked with him long enough to know not to argue any point he made, so they brought him back word that they had five loaves of bread and two fish. Then Jesus took the bread they had and broke it and distributed it to the people, and the same with the two fish. As the disciples began to hand them out, each one's sack remained full and in the end they had fed five thousand men, plus women and children, and ...they collected twelve baskets full of fragments! Do you think that what God has gifted you with is so insignificant that it matters not whether you do anything with it? Have you held back your talent thinking it's just not worth anything? Do you see a need so great that you conclude it's not even worth bothering? Jesus Christ is the God who multiplies. He will take whatever you bring to him and as he directs you to give it out, he will multiply the supply endlessly, and you will be shockingly amazed. But if you sit on it and pay no attention to it, you will be like one of the twelve if one of them had refused to take his basket to the people. You are uniquely made. There isn't another like you on the earth, you are special to God. No one can play the role you've been called to play, no matter how small or insignificant it seems to you. He takes what little you have ...and he MULTIPLIES it. "For to everyone who has, MORE will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away." Matthew 25:29 Friends, take a good look at what God has placed in your heart, your gifts and talents whether big or small, and determine whether you have used what you have for the glory of God and the furtherance of his Kingdom. You will be called to account for what you did with them. No one else can fulfill your calling and much can be lost by one's refusal to use their talents. Read a passage on this subject recorded in Matthew 25:14-29. Let it encourage you to take stock of what God has placed inside you, and to consider nothing too small or too insignificant to use for the glory of God. The choice is yours, and the decision you make will have an eternal effect not only on you, but on all God would accomplish through you - in spite of your little expectations.
