If He Comes In The Darkness Will You Have Enough Light?

"But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day." Proverbs 4:18 We live in a world of darkness, a fallen world, with fallen people, in a fallen society, this world concerning which the Scriptures say is all under the rulership of Satan: "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, WHOSE MINDS THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them." 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 God calls people out of the world to whom he can bring light. Those who find him are transferred out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, and IT CHANGES EVERYTHING. I remember the day I was born again - it was quite amazing, exactly as though someone turned on the light because suddenly I could see. Everything changed. I found myself becoming more and more disinterested in the things that I loved before, and without effort - becoming interested in things that I never before cared about. The Spirit of God entering a person's life makes the difference between night and day, darkness and light. But while a new believer lives in the darkness of this world, that light within must be maintained. Oil must be provided daily to the lamp or the wick burn out. There are forces of darkness that seek to overcome the light, therefore one must be ever watchful for the "wiles of the devil" who constantly seeks to snuff out the light in the believer. Staying in the light requires daily feeding in the Word of God, and a watchful diligence to ward off and refuse the efforts of the enemy to snuff out that light. As long as one feeds daily in the Word of God, the light will be maintained. Should he part from it, he's easy prey for the enemy. It requires persistence, it requires diligence. vs 23: "KEEP YOUR HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE, for out of it spring the issues of life." Jesus told the story of ten virgins waiting for the Bridegroom to come. As nighttime came upon them they all slept, and at midnight the announcement came, "Behold the Bridegroom! Go out to meet him!" Five of the virgins had not brought enough oil for their lamps and when they arose they found the lamps had gone out and they didn't have enough oil, enough light, to go out to meet him. Panicking, they asked the five wise virgins to give them some of their oil, but the wise ones only had enough for themselves. The five without the oil WERE LEFT BEHIND. (Matthew 25:1-13) The oil is the Spirit of God, the Word of God. If neglected, there won't be light. Each day there is only enough oil for the day, and each day it has to be replaced. The wise will light their lamps daily in the Word of God, and the darkness will have no power over them. If the Bridegroom comes at midnight, only those who have enough oil will be able to go out and meet him. The rest ...are left behind. Keep your heart with all diligence, apply to it the light of God's Word daily so that when darkness falls, you'll have enough light to endure it until the shout: "Behold, the bridegroom! Go out to meet him!" Matthew 25:6 Those with enough light will go.
